About Seido Karate Dover

Seido Karate Dover was started in the late 1980's by Kyoshi Mike Knight (5th Dan) who at the time was a Brown Belt.

Kyoshi Mike was given support and guidance from Sei Shihan Roger Thyer-Jones (Seido UK Chairman) who had the first UK dojo and was based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Having both trained together for many years in Karate in Dover, it was Sei Shihan Roger who first began training with Seido Karate whilst living and working in Jamaica.

After promoting to Shodan (1st Dan) under Founder and Chairman Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura in New York USA, Sei Shihan was giving permission to establish Seido Karate in the UK.

After starting the club in the town, facing many challenges and having to move to various locations to continue Seido Dover, Kyoshi Mike retained many of his students over that time.

After spending many years as branch chief, Kyoshi Mike handed over the reins of Seido Karate Dover to his senior students. The dojo is now run by Kyoshi Nigel white (5th Dan) and Sensei John Casey (4th Dan), and supported by senior black belts Senpai Kian Casey (2nd Dan), Senpai Barry Gifford (1st Dan) and Senpai Darcey Gifford (1st Dan).

The Dover Dojo is located at vale view primary school in Dover, with classes run for juniors and adults on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
